In the city center, under the bell tower of Annoutsiata, there is a street food destination, BELVA. Food is served with a more modern look at street food culture.
But what does the name BELVA mean?
Belva was a winged lion, similar to the symbol of the Republic of Serenity and later of the Ionian State, with an ugly large face, which was often mentioned in stories of the grandparents of Corfu of another era.
Στο κέντρο της πόλης, κάτω από το καμπαναριό της Αννουτσιατα, υπάρχει ένας street food προορισμός, η BELVA. Σερβιρεται φαγητό με μια πιο σύγχρονη ματιά στην κουλτούρα του street food.
Τι σημαίνει όμως το όνομα BELVA;
Η Belva ήταν ένα φτερωτό λιοντάρι, όμοιο με το σύμβολο της Γαληνοτάτης Δημοκρατίας αλλά και της Επτανήσου πολιτείας αργότερα, με άσχημο μεγάλο μούτρο, το οποίο αναφερόταν συχνά σε ιστορίες των παππούδων και γιαγιάδων της Κέρκυρας μιας άλλης εποχής.
